Rehane Yavar Dhalla is among Madras’
leading fashion designers. She runs a boutique eponymously named
‘Rehane’ where Madras’ haute monde make their fashion purchases.
As is commonly whispered, “why go to Milan and Paris, when we
have Rehane here?” Rehane has trained in Rome and has integrated
the fashion sensibilities of the best of the west into her line
of clothing. Rehane has outfitted several Ms. India contestants
from Chennai.
Her line incorporates both Indian and
Western elements, her styles are flamboyant, stylish but most
importantly, have been created keeping the comfort of the Indian

Sekhar
Ambiga Sekhar is a consultant dietician and counsellor, offering
her expertise for therapeutic purposes such as special diets for
patients with cardiac, renal and diabetes problems. She also
specializes in weight reduction related diets.
She has written numerous articles in leading magazines besides
authoring a book on weight reduction through special diets. She
has also presented shows on low calorie diets on television.
She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition & Dietetics as well
as a P.G. Diploma in Nutrition & Dietetics from C.M.C. Vellore.Email

Devika is an arts educator. As a
school teacher, she brought art into the classroom with face to
face encounters with artists, gave several workshops to fellow
teachers on art in education and gave presentations at several
educational conferences all over India. At Madras Craft
Foundation, she conceived and executed a highly successful, Ford
Foundation funded project of arts in education with fifty
schools of Madras City. It included introducing folk performing
arts and crafts to urban children through school assembly demos,
workshops etc. She conceived and directed ‘Aayana’ in ’92, ’94,
and ’96, a mega production with 1000 children of diverse
backgrounds, physical abilities, folk and classical performing
artists, contemporary theatre persons, painters and sculptors as
resource persons.
One of Devika’s achievements
has been the creation of ‘the woven magic’ project of one meter
cloth woven by Muttukkadu village women for the UN women’s
